What happens during a typical acupuncture treatment?
The acupuncturist first questions and evaluates the patient according to the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. A treatment plan is then formulated which consists of acupuncture, Chinese herbal therapy, dietary modification, and/or supplements. To receive the acupuncture, the patient lies down on a treatment table or sits in a comfortable chair. The needles are retained anywhere from ten minutes to one hour depending on the condition. The acupuncture creates a relaxing and balancing effect in the body. Many patients fall asleep or into a deep meditative state during the treatment.
